# How to cancel Hulu: every billing path, the retention screens, and the 11:59 p.m. deadline (2026)

To cancel Hulu, sign in at [hulu.com/account](https://www.hulu.com/account) in a web browser, scroll to Your Subscription, select Cancel, click Continue to Cancel past the pause offer, and confirm. If Hulu is billed by Disney+, Apple, Google Play or your phone or internet provider, the cancel button lives with that company instead, and Hulu's Account page tells you which one under Payment Information.

That second sentence is where most people get stuck. A C+R Research survey [reported by CNBC](https://www.cnbc.com/2022/06/02/consumers-spend-133-more-monthly-on-subscriptions-than-they-realize.html) found 42% of people had forgotten they were still paying for a subscription they no longer used, and Hulu is a classic case: you signed up on a Roku three years ago, or through a Disney+ bundle, or on your iPhone at 1 a.m., and now nobody remembers where the bill comes from. That's the system working as designed, not you being careless. Below: the fast version, the exact steps for every billing path, what the retention screens say, how refunds work, and what to do if the charge keeps coming back.

## Key takeaways

| Point | Details |
| --------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Check who bills you first | Hulu's Account page lists your billing party under Payment Information. That company is where you cancel. |
| Hulu-billed (including Roku and Amazon) | Cancel at [hulu.com/account](https://www.hulu.com/account). Roku collects the money but Hulu manages the subscription. |
| Disney+, Apple or Google-billed | Cancel in that company's account or subscription settings, not on Hulu. |
| The deadline | Hulu's terms say cancel before 11:59 p.m. Eastern on the day before your billing period ends. |
| Refunds | No refunds for partly used months by default; Hulu says it may make exceptions case by case. |

## How to cancel Hulu: the short answer

- Go to [hulu.com/account](https://www.hulu.com/account) in a browser on your phone or computer and sign in.
- Look at Payment Information. If it names Disney+, Apple, Google Play, a phone carrier or an internet provider, skip to that section below.
- If it shows your own card (or Roku or Amazon), scroll to Your Subscription and select Cancel.
- Decline the pause offer by selecting Continue to Cancel, pick any reason, and confirm with the final cancel button.
- Check that the page now says your subscription is about to cancel, with an end date.

You keep watching until the end of the period you already paid for. After that, Hulu stops charging.

## Step 1: find out who actually bills you for Hulu

Hulu is sold through a lot of storefronts, and each one keeps its own cancel button. Hulu's [Disney-billed account help page](https://help.hulu.com/article/hulu-manage-disney) puts it plainly: you confirm your billing party on your Hulu Account page, in the Payment Information section. Do this first, every time.

Call it **the middleman maze**: you pay one company, a second company runs the service, and the cancel button sits with whichever one took your card. Clicking Cancel in the wrong place does nothing, and the charge shows up again next month looking like Hulu ignored you.

| Payment Information says | Where you cancel |
| --------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Your card or PayPal (billed by Hulu) | [hulu.com/account](https://www.hulu.com/account) |
| Roku | [hulu.com/account](https://www.hulu.com/account), or call Hulu at 877-824-4858 |
| Amazon | [hulu.com/account](https://www.hulu.com/account), or your Amazon memberships and subscriptions page |
| Disney+ | Your Disney+ account page |
| Apple | iPhone Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions |
| Google Play | Play Store, Payments and subscriptions |
| A phone carrier, internet provider or Spotify | That provider's account settings |

If you have three or four of these going at once, our guide to [an app that cancels subscriptions for you](https://impause.com/blog/app-that-cancels-subscriptions-for-you) covers how to find them all from your bank feed instead of one login at a time. For the general playbook across every service, see [how to cancel subscriptions](https://impause.com/blog/how-to-cancel-subscriptions).

> 💡 Can't remember which email you used for Hulu? Search your inbox for "Hulu" and "receipt". The account that gets the receipts is the one you need to sign in with.

## How to cancel Hulu on the website (billed by Hulu)

This covers most people, plus anyone billed through Roku or Amazon.

- Open a web browser (Safari, Chrome, anything) and go to [hulu.com/account](https://www.hulu.com/account). The TV app is not where this happens.
- Sign in, select your profile, then Account if you land on the home screen.
- Scroll to Your Subscription and select Cancel.
- Hulu offers to pause your subscription. Select Continue to Cancel.
- Choose a reason. Any option works.
- If another offer appears, decline it and select the final Cancel Subscription button.

That last click matters. Closing the tab one screen early leaves your plan active, and Hulu's [Subscriber Agreement](https://www.hulu.com/subscriber_agreement) says you must cancel before 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on the day before your subscription term ends to avoid the next charge.

## What the retention screens say (and what to click)

Hulu, like most streaming services, puts a few screens between you and the exit. You'll typically see some mix of these:

- A pause offer. Hulu lets eligible subscribers pause for up to 12 weeks. Useful if you're coming back for a specific show. Otherwise, Continue to Cancel.
- A plan switch. You may be offered a cheaper plan with ads or a bundle with Disney+. Worth a look only if you'd actually watch it.
- A reason survey. It doesn't change anything. Pick one and move on.
- A discount or free month. Some people see one, some don't. If you take it, set a reminder for when the discount ends.

None of these are traps on their own. They work because they arrive at the exact moment you're deciding, and your brain tends to treat "pause" as the safe, reversible choice. A pause that auto-resumes in 12 weeks is still a charge you agreed to.

## How to cancel Hulu if Disney+ bills you (the bundle)

If you signed up for a Disney+ and Hulu bundle on Disney+, the bundle is managed there.

- Sign in at [disneyplus.com](https://www.disneyplus.com/) and select your profile, then Account.
- Select your bundle subscription.
- Choose Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts.

Cancelling a bundle ends the services inside it, so if you want to keep Disney+ and drop Hulu, look for a plan change on the same page instead. If you bought the bundle through Hulu, cancel it on [hulu.com/account](https://www.hulu.com/account). Hulu's help page adds one catch: if you already paid for Disney+ or ESPN separately before buying a bundle through Hulu, those separate subscriptions keep billing until you cancel each one.

> 💡 Hulu-only subscribers can now sign in to the Disney+ app with their Hulu login, so seeing Hulu inside Disney+ doesn't mean Disney+ bills you. Check Payment Information before you cancel anything.

## How to cancel Hulu on iPhone (billed by Apple)

If you subscribed inside the Hulu app on an iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, Apple holds the subscription.

- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions, then Hulu.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

If there's no Cancel button, or you see an expiration date in red, it's already cancelled. Our [Apple subscription guide](https://impause.com/blog/cancel-apple-subscription-iphone) covers the Mac and web versions too.

## How to cancel Hulu on Roku

Roku's own [support page](https://support.roku.com/article/manage-or-cancel-subscriptions) is clear on this: Roku processes the charge, but Hulu manages the subscription, so you cancel with Hulu even if your statement says Roku. Use [hulu.com/account](https://www.hulu.com/account), or call Hulu at 877-824-4858. If Hulu asks for your CIB (Customer Identifier for Billing), it's on your Roku invoice. More on Roku's other subscriptions in our [Roku cancellation guide](https://impause.com/blog/cancel-roku-subscription).

## How to cancel Hulu on Android, Amazon and other partners

- Google Play: open the Play Store, tap your profile icon, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Select Hulu and tap Cancel subscription. On a computer, the same list is at [play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions](https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions).
- Amazon: Hulu says you can cancel on [hulu.com/account](https://www.hulu.com/account) or through Amazon's Memberships and Subscriptions page by turning off auto-renew.
- Phone carriers, internet providers and Spotify: Hulu that comes with another plan is cancelled (or removed) in that provider's account. Cancelling on Hulu won't stop the provider's bill.

## Hulu + Live TV, annual plans and student plans

Hulu + Live TV cancels the same way as regular Hulu, on the Account page or with whoever bills you. Live TV plans start at $89.99 a month and include Disney+ and ESPN Select, so cancelling Live TV can end those too.

If you're on the annual plan, cancelling stops the next renewal. It doesn't refund the rest of the year, because the Subscriber Agreement says Hulu doesn't refund partly used terms "except as required by applicable law," though it may make case-by-case exceptions. Cancel early anyway so you don't forget at month 11.

Here's what each plan costs, per Hulu's [plans and prices page](https://help.hulu.com/article/hulu-how-much-does-hulu-cost):

| Plan | Monthly price | What cancelling saves in a year |
| ------------------------------------ | -------------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| Hulu (With Ads) | $11.99 (or $119.99 a year) | $119.99 to $143.88 |
| Hulu Premium (No Ads) | $18.99 | $227.88 |
| Disney+, Hulu Bundle | $12.99 | $155.88 |
| Disney+, Hulu Bundle Premium | $19.99 | $239.88 |
| Hulu + Live TV, Disney+, ESPN Select | $89.99 | $1,079.88 |

Prices are from Hulu's page dated June 24, 2026, and Hulu raises them periodically, so check your own Account page for what you pay.

## Is Hulu going away? (and why it matters for cancelling)

Not yet. Hulu's [help center](https://help.hulu.com/article/hulu-is-hulu-going-away) says Hulu and Hulu Premium subscriptions will keep being sold, while Disney integrates Hulu further into Disney+. For cancelling, the practical effect is the middleman maze getting one more turn: you might watch Hulu in the Disney+ app while paying Hulu directly, or the reverse. Your Payment Information line is still the only reliable answer.

## Cancel vs delete: don't delete first

Deleting your Hulu account and cancelling your subscription are separate. Hulu's help center says you must cancel before you delete, or you may keep being charged, and if a third party bills you, deleting the account removes your ability to manage the subscription through Hulu at all. Cancel, confirm, then delete if you want your data gone.

## Still being charged after you cancelled?

Work through these in order:

- Check the Account page. "Your subscription is about to cancel" with an end date means it worked. A "next charge" amount means it didn't, or a pause ended.
- Check the billing party again. A Hulu-side cancellation does nothing for an Apple, Google or Disney+ bill.
- Look for a second account. Old emails, a partner's login, a bundle bought twice. Search your bank feed for "Hulu", "Disney" and "Roku".
- Contact whoever billed you and ask for the charge to be reversed, with your cancellation confirmation email in hand.
- Dispute the charge with your card issuer if a company keeps billing after a documented cancellation.
- File a report with the FTC at [ReportFraud.ftc.gov](https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/). The FTC's 2024 click-to-cancel rule was vacated in court and formally removed in February 2026 ([Federal Register](https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/02/12/2026-02866/revision-of-the-negative-option-rule-withdrawal-of-the-cars-rule-removal-of-the-non-compete-rule-to)), but federal law on online subscriptions and many state auto-renewal laws still apply.

## How to stop needing guides like this

Hulu is rarely the only one. The same thing that kept it running (a charge small enough to scroll past, billed by a company you don't think of as "Hulu") is running on a few other subscriptions right now. Our [Netflix cancellation guide](https://impause.com/blog/how-to-cancel-netflix-2026) shows the same pattern with different menus.

The fix that works is a system that looks for you. Once a quarter, search your card statements for every recurring charge and ask one question about each: worth it or regret? If you'd re-subscribe today at full price, keep it. If you hesitate, cancel and see if you miss it. Most people don't.

## FAQ

### Why can't I cancel Hulu in the app?

Hulu's cancellation lives on the Account page at [hulu.com/account](https://www.hulu.com/account), which you open in a web browser on your phone or computer. If you don't see a Cancel option there, a third party bills you, and the Account page names it under Payment Information.

### Can I get a refund if I cancel Hulu?

Usually not for the rest of a month or year you've already paid for. Hulu's Subscriber Agreement says it doesn't refund partly used billing periods except where the law requires it, though it may grant exceptions case by case, so it's worth asking if you were charged right after forgetting.

### Does cancelling Hulu cancel Disney+?

Only if they're in the same bundle and you cancel the bundle. A standalone Disney+ subscription keeps billing until you cancel it separately, and if you want to keep Disney+ while dropping Hulu, change your plan rather than cancelling the bundle.

### How do I cancel Hulu through Roku?

You cancel on Hulu, not Roku. Roku processes the payment but Hulu manages the subscription, so use [hulu.com/account](https://www.hulu.com/account) or call Hulu at 877-824-4858.
