Rocket Money finds your subscriptions and shows you a dashboard. impause finds them and cancels them, after one tap from you. Fee refunds are coming soon. No bill-negotiation fee, no mortgage upsell. This is a fact-checked comparison with prices as of October 2026 and the sources linked at the bottom, written by the impause team, so read the concessions as carefully as the claims.

Three questions to ask any money app before you pick one
Rocket Money and impause both find subscriptions. That's where the overlap ends, so the table only makes sense once you've decided what you're hiring the app to do.
- What does it cost, all in? Not the sticker price. Rocket Money's Premium is a sliding scale, and bill negotiation keeps 35% to 60% of what it saves you in year one. impause is $10 a month and keeps nothing from what it recovers.
- Does it act for you, or show you? A dashboard reports the past. The useful tools change what happens next: they cancel the charge, request the refund, file the claim. Count how many of those each app will do with one tap.
- Who gets paid when you slip? If an app is owned by a lender, its best customer is the one who refinances. If it earns on a flat subscription, its best customer is the one who stops wasting money.

What Rocket Money is good at
Rocket Money is the most complete money dashboard for most people: subscriptions, budgets, net worth, credit score, shared accounts, and a human concierge that negotiates bills. The free tier is useful on its own, and as a one-time audit of what you're paying for every month it earns its install. The catches are that cancellation lives on Premium, bill negotiation keeps 35% to 60% of first-year savings, and the whole thing sits inside Rocket Companies, which makes its money on mortgages and loans. If you want to see everything in one place and don't mind the funnel, it's hard to beat.
Where it stops short
Finding the charge is not the same as ending it. Rocket Money's free tier is mostly a viewer: it tells you Hulu is still billing you, then hands you a to-do. Premium adds a cancellation assistant, and the negotiation concierge is a real service, but the business model means the app is at its best when you keep opening it, not when the problem goes away.
Rocket earns when you refinance. impause earns a flat subscription.
What impause does instead
impause is an agent, not a dashboard. It reads your accounts every morning, opens the chat with the one thing worth your attention, and asks for a single tap: cancel this subscription. Fee refunds and settlement claims are coming soon. It also learns what you regret from your worth-it or regret ratings, which Rocket Money doesn't try to do. What it doesn't do: budgets, net worth, credit score, bill negotiation (yet), Android (yet). If you want the money back without a dashboard to maintain, that's the job it's built for.
💡 One tap, not zero taps. impause never cancels, refunds or files anything without your approval. Your bank connection through Plaid is read-only; impause can't move your money.
How to pick one this week
- Want everything on one screen, with net worth and credit? Start a Rocket Money free account. The dashboard is the product.
- Have a cable or phone bill you know is too high and don't want to make the call? Rocket Money's negotiation concierge, if you're fine giving up 35% to 60% of the first year's savings.
- Mostly want the forgotten subscriptions gone, without checking an app? impause. Connect once, approve what it finds, keep the money.
- Already use Rocket Money and like it? Keep it. Add impause for the actions. Both are read-only through Plaid.
